ur funeral home was founded in Mount Eaton, Ohio in 1888 by Jules Desvoignes. His son Harris W. Desvoignes took over the business in 1926 following his fathers death. It was known as the Desvoignes Funeral Home until 1973 when C. Waid Spidell purchased the firm.In 1980 the Spidells established the Brewster Chapel in the former Brewster Elementary School at the North end of Brewster. Waid's son Scott W. Spidell joined the business in 1991 and is now a partner with his father in the ownership and daily business operations.
